وا حسرتاه يا فرساً
شـــخـــتَ اليـــــوم
ونــــخـــــرَ الغــــدرُ
عظامك...

أضــــعتَ الطـــريقَ
وشـــــــوهَ الأبنــاءُ
مرامك....

أيــــن تقودنـــــي
و الخــــونة ُ سرقوا
لجامك...؟

هذا نخيل ُ العراق ِ
شامخ ٌ
اجلس تحته ُ
و دعني
أشرّح جلدك الأسود
و أغسل عفن
الماضي...

لا تعارض أيها الأبي
و دعني
أداوي جـــراح
الخيانة...


اجـــلس ها هـــنا
ودعني
أطعمك بلحاً
عراقياً
و أسقيك ماء
فراتياً

اجلس هاهنا
و ثق بي
فغداً سنطيرُ
عاليا

قم يا فرسي
واشمخ كنخيل ِ
هذه الأرض

البهية...


دعني أمتطيك
سابق بي
الريح...
و احملني حيث
الغد يطل
علينا و كله ُ
حرية...

You noble horse

And let me feed you Iraqi dates
And give you Euphrates water
Sit here
Trust me
Tomorrow
We will fly high

stand my horse
And be as pride as the dates
Of this beautiful land
Let me saddle you
wind the race
And take me to the future
That rises
with all
its freedom
